Bryan and I decided in early 2024 that we would be buying a home in Colorado Springs. We spent many weekends looking at houses and after not being able to find what we were looking for that we would build what we want. At that point we still had lots of work and choices ahead of us but at least we new what direction we would be going, We decided on Classic Homes as our builder. These guys are amazing. They are a local builder, have one many awards and are wonderful to work with. Our first step was to choose a neighborhood. We landed at the Greenways at Sand Creek Community. Its a small neighborhood in the already built out Stetson Hills area of Colorado Springs. There are so many options for dining and shopping around there, we can't wait to move. But we have to wait. We are building from the ground up and and its a long process filled with choices. Our first choice we will have to make will be a floorplan and what lot we want it on. Bryan and I decided on the Jubilee floorplan because it has an optional ensuite for Bryans mom, Nancy. Bryan is giving up a big shop, so we also want a three car garage for him to have a space for woodworking. This made the lot choice for us, because there is only one lot left that would hold a three car garage. And with that we were ready to commit. We signed our contract in March 2024.
While Classic Homes worked on our permits and start package we had no time to rest. We needed to meet with the team over at Home Run Electronics where we decided on options available like surround sound, TV's locations and any other wiring you want. We were able to work with some great people there and we made our decisions in record time. Well... it took about three hours but we felt really good about it. Our next step was choices at the design studio. Leigh with Classic Homes was our designer and she really made the process extremally enjoyable. The way we approached our design choices was to first pick out everything we wanted regardless of the price. Then Leigh gave us a breakdown of everything we picked and we were given the prices to take home with us. Bryan and I took the paperwork home and started cutting the fat. This was a smart method that allowed us to make informed choices and after several days we had the home the way we wanted it at the price we wanted. Thank you again Leigh for your help with this. :)
There is a lot that has to happen before the builder will actually start the home. It took three months to get to this point. All the permits were pulled by the builder. Bryan and I finalized all our options and we were off and running. The sales team emails us weekly on the progress and attaches photos. I feel like this would be a huge bonus for out of town buyers.
One week later we received an update saying the footers had been poured. .Our home will have a basement so you can see there was quite a big hole in the ground.
One more week passed and Classic has the basement walls complete. Its really nice building in Colorado during the summer. We didn't have any bad weather days so construction just continued along. We asked about how the concrete would cure when the weather was freezing. They will pull out heaters and warming blankets to keep the proces

We asked about how the concrete would cure when the weather was freezing. They will pull out heaters and warming blankets to keep the process rolling along. I have to admit, I was happy we are building during the summer.
We've made it to framing. Its amazing how fast the framers do their job. There is a lot to be done before the drywall is installed. Electrical, plumbing, windows, roofing then a pre-drywall inspection by Bryan and myself. Everything looked like exactly what we asked for. I can't wait until close.
Its time for the drywall to be hung. After that the painters will come through and make the inside look like the home we designed.
Today Bryan and I went to the house to see the final paint job and we were pleasantly surprised to see the cabinets are bring hung and the fixtures have been installed.
